WPI Edges Out Engineers, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – In a NEWMAC men's soccer contest, WPI posted a 1-0 win over MIT on Saturday evening. The victory raised WPI's ledger to 7-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference play while MIT moved to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the NEWMAC.

Despite a scoreless first half, both squads kept the goalies busy by combining for nine shots on net. Just over nine minutes into the second stanza, Eric Crevoiserat gathered a pass from Shane Fagan on the left side 12 yards away and sent a shot toward the far post to put WPI on the board.

MIT continued to attack but Tom Meagher deflected a shot following a miscue on a clearing attempt and Jeff Wong punched away a shot to preserve the slim advantage.

Senior Dylan Rankin (Providence, R.I.) grabbed five saves for MIT while Wong finished with six stops.

After playing four games in a span of a week, MIT will take a brief hiatus before hosting nationally-ranked No. 11 Williams College on Saturday, Oct. 1.
