CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT was the only institution in the NEWMAC to have both of its soccer programs earn the College Team Academic Award sponsored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). A total of 789 colleges, universities, and junior colleges received this honor while 154 qualified for the award on both sides by obtaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the 2010-11 academic year.
The Engineers had the highest GPA among their conference foes as the women's team posted a 3.44 on a 4.0 scale while Mount Holyoke College came in at 3.37. On the men's side, Tech registered a 3.36 as Springfield College (3.16) and Wheaton College (3.12) rounded out the field.
