Men's and Women's Soccer Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Kan.  MIT's men's and women's soccer teams earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic, it was announced on Thursday.

A total of 862 soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) across all three divisions posted a team grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher, thus earning the award. MIT was just one of 182 institutions that had both the men's and women's programs recognized.

Tech's men posted a combined GPA of 3.45, while the women registered a 3.40. MIT was the only institution in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to have both the men's and the women's soccer programs earn the award.
