CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT junior Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) and freshman Joshua Wilson (West Chester, Pa.) each received Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Division III honors, as announced on Tuesday, December 16.

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Justin Laurenzo (Park Ridge, N.J.) scored once in each half as fourth-seeded Babson College defeated fifth-seeded MIT, 2-0, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) quarterfinal match on Wednesday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Awards
BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 71 athletes represented MIT on the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

Late Overtime Goal Lifts Babson Past MIT, 3-2
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Babson College junior Justin Laurenzo (Park Ridge, N.J.) tipped in the game-winning goal in the second overtime period following a free kick by classmate Tyler Carlos (Prospect, Conn.) as the Beavers defeated MIT, 3-2, on Saturday evening in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.

MIT, Tufts Play To A 1-1 Draw
MEDFORD, Mass. –Senior Nikolas Albarran’s (Buffalo, N.Y.) second goal of the season helped MIT overcome a one-goal deficit late in the second half and secure a 1-1 non-conference tie with Tufts University on Wednesday afternoon at Kraft Field. Albarran located the back of his opponent’s goal when he fired home a rebound following a shot by junior Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) that bounced off the Jumbos’ goalpost.

Wilson Tabbed NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second time in three weeks, the MIT men’s soccer team received NEWMAC Athlete of the Week honors as freshman Joshua Wilson (West Chester, Pa.) was tabbed Defender of the Week on Monday. The accolade comes following a successful week for the Engineers, who captured back-to-back contests against Emerson College and Roger Williams University.

MIT Tops Emerson In NEWMAC Opener, 3-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second time this week, MIT freshman Joshua Wilson (West Chester, Pa.) located the back of the net twice as the Engineers defeated Emerson College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in their New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. Wilson netted his first goal from outside the box following a feed from senior Chester Chamber (Columbia, Md.) at 26:20 before depositing his second marker off a free kick at 80:55 in the second half.

Second Half Surge Lifts MIT Past Roger Williams, 4-1
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - MIT freshman Joshua Wilson (West Chester, Pa.) recorded a career-best two goals – one in each half – as the Engineers defeated Roger Williams University, 4-1, on Wednesday evening at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. Wilson put the Engineers on the board first when he fired a shot from 10 yards outside the box that landed in the corner of the Hawks’ goal at 21:07 before he capped the scoring with a penalty shot at 80:06.

MIT, Newbury Play To 1-1 Tie
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in their season series history, MIT and Newbury College ended their match in a tie as the Engineers and Nighthawks played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon at Jack Barry Field. Newbury junior Emmitt Dixon (Providence, R.I.) netted the game’s first goal at 54:11 before MIT junior Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) evened the score on a penalty kick at 63:00. Following Bingham’s strike, both teams desperately tried to score the go-ahead strike, but were unsuccessful.

MIT Tops Salve Regina University, 1-0
NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior Austin Freel (San Diego, Calif.) netted the game’s lone goal at 13:18 – his first strike of the season – which lifted MIT past Salve Regina University, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Reynolds Field. MIT outshot Salve Regina, 9-6, but the Seahawks held an advantage in corners, five to three.

Bingham Named NEWMAC Offensive Player Of The Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) was named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. This is the fourth time in Bingham’s career that he’s received this particular accolade.

MIT Ties Wentworth Institute of Technology In Double Overtime, 2-2
BOSTON, Mass. – MIT’s men soccer team closed out the weekend with a 2-2 non-conference tie against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon at Sweeney Field. Senior Gordon Glober (Jacksonville, Fla.) and freshman Joshua Wilson (West Chester, Pa.) each netted their first strike of the season, while junior goalkeeper Jake Amereno (Commack, N.Y.) turned away four shots.

MIT, Eastern Connecticut Play To 2-2 Tie
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s men’s soccer team drew a 2-2 non-conference tie against Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. Eastern Connecticut junior Gavin Neuendorf (Fairfield, Conn.) scored the equalizer at 59:24, but that’d be the final marker of the contest before the game was called after the second half concluded due to inclement weather.
