CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT's men's soccer team was picked second in the New England Women's and Men's Athletics Conference (NEWMAC) preseason coaches poll, as announced on Monday.
Tech concluded last season as regular season champions – third time in program history – and 13-5-2 overall, including 6-0-1 in conference play. MIT fell to Wheaton College in the NEWMAC tournament finals, but did advance to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
Wheaton earned the top spot in the preseason poll with four first place votes, while MIT, Babson College, Springfield College and WPI earned one vote, respectively. Babson was projected to finish third, Coast Guard fourth and Springfield fifth.
MIT will kickoff its 2014 campaign on Tuesday, September 2 when they host Anna Maria College at 7:00 p.m. at Roberts Fields at Steinbrenner Stadium.
