Engineers Fall to Tufts, 5-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After a few hard fought matches, the MIT squash team ultimately fell to Tufts, 5-4 at home on Wednesday night. Tech's ledger now stands at 1-5 for the season.

Junior Abhi Mitra (Medford, Mass.) got off to a good start, winning the first two games 14-12, 15-13, against opponent Hugo Meggit before dropping the final three 11-8, 11-5, 11-7. Senior Sunny Long (Wethersfield, Conn.) also had to fight for the win but came out on top in the end. He lost the first game (11-7), won the next two (11-4, 11-8), dropped the fourth one (11-3) and won the final set (11-7), winning against Elliot Kardon, 3-2.

Sophomore Gray Riley (Wellesley, Mass.) narrowly won all three games against the Jumbos' Gordon Silverman 12-10, 11-7, 11-9. Freshman David Kang dropped his second game against Jaywoo Lee 11-9, but was able to win the other three 11-8, 11-6, 11-6. Sophomore Sung Won Cho (Lexington, Mass.) played well but dropped all three games 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.

The Engineers will return to the courts on Dec. 1-2 when they host the Boston Round Robin, facing Bates College and Navy on Saturday and UC Berkeley and Bard College on Sunday.
