Cambridge, Mass. -- After helping the Engineers swimming team kick off the new year with a victory, Colby Dunn has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) swimmer of the week for January 3-9.
Dunn, a freshman from Weston, Massachusetts, was one of four Engineers to score multiple event wins in this week's victory over Wheaton College. Dunn sprinted to victories in the 50 yard (21.15) and 100 yard freestyle (46.99) events after starting out the meet as part of the winning team in the 200 yard medley relay, with a time of 1:35.97. Dunn closed off the meet in similar fashion, joining other Engineers to capture the final event of the night, the 400 yard freestyle relay, in 3:15 flat.
The Engineers defeated Wheaton College by a score of 219-78 on Thursday night. They have now won all three of their dual matches this season and took first place in the six-team MIT Invitational. Men's swimming will next compete on January 15th when they travel to Colby College.
