Ubellacker Reaches Finals in 50 Fly on Day Two of World Champ Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - On the second day of competition at the USA Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championships Trials at IUIPUI on Wednesday, MIT graduate Wyatt Ubellacker '13 (Georgetown, Ky.) swam his first event of the week, the 50-meter butterfly. Seeded 19th out of the 23 athletes entered in the event, he made it back to the championship final when he came eighth with a 24.15 at prelims.

Swimming just lanes away from Ubellacker at finals were Matt Grevers and Cullen Jones, who have both won multiple Olympic medals. Racing the 50 fly for the second time that day, Ubellacker swam a time of 24.15, the same exact time he went at prelims, staying true to his seedings and touching in eighth place.

Next up for Ubellacker is the 100-meter butterfly, which he will swim tomorrow morning.
