CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Laurent Charpentier helped power MIT past Babson and Bowdoin en route to NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors. The Engineers improved to 3-0 on the young season as Charpentier factored into four victories during the tri-meet.
Charpentier, who hails from Aigues-Mortes, France, dominated the 200-yard freestyle by leading a 1-2-3 sweep for the Cardinal and Gray with a time of 1:44.66. He also out-dueled teammate Luke Cummings, who was the last NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week, in the 100 free.
In addition to the pair of individual wins, Charpentier split 23.3 in the fly leg of Tech’s winning 200 medley relay while posting a clip of 46.6 in anchoring the 400 free relay.
