CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Laurent Charpentier snagged his second weekly conference honor of the season as he was named NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
Charpentier paced the Engineers to a first-place finish at the highly competitive MIT Winter Invitational by factoring into five victories and five NCAA provisional cuts. Charpentier split 20.67 to anchor MIT's winning 200 free relay and 44.99 to bring home a win in the 400 medley relay. He also provided a strong split in the fly to help MIT to the top spot in the 200 medley relay.
In the individual events, Charpentier secured national cuts in both efforts, as he won the 200 free (1:42.14) and finished second in the 100 free. In leaading off MIT's 400 free relay, Charpentier equaled his own Institute record with a split of 46.11.
