MIT Men’s Tennis Selected to Play in NCAA Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – There is post-season championship play in the future of the MIT men's tennis team with the announcement today that the Engineers have been selected as one of the 43 teams to play in the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships. Ranked 28th in the nation and eighth in the Northeast Region, MIT will begin NCAA play on May 12 in Williamstown, Massachusetts on the campus of Williams College.

This will mark the seventh consecutive season, and 16th overall, that MIT (15-4) has been selected to play in the NCAA Championships. The Engineers received a first-round bye in the tournament and will meet the winner of the May 11 match between Wilkes College (14-3) and the Stevens Institute of Technology (11-7).  Under the guidance of head coach Dave Hagymas, the Engineers recently won their 14th straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference title.

The other half of the draw that is being hosted by Williams features a first-round match on Friday between Farmingdale State University (12-5) and Drew University (11-5). The winner of that match will face third-ranked Williams on Saturday. A complete bracket for the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships and be found here.
