Engineers Battle Brandeis in 6-3 Win

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The regionally-ranked No. 13 MIT men's tennis team registered a hard-fought 6-3 win over No. 9 Brandeis University on Wednesday. The victory lifted the Engineers' ledger to 12-5 on the year while the Judges fell to 5-10 overall.

Eric Beren and Ken Van Tilburg edged out Simon Miller and Scott Schulman, 8-6, in the No. 1 doubles position as David Iba and Kevin Pang outlasted their foes, 9-7, in the next spot. Jonathan Farm and Peden Nichols completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory over Dor Almog and Mayur Kasetty.

Miller topped Beren, 6-3, 7-6 (3) to put Brandeis on the board. Steven Nieman followed with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, decision over Pang in the No. 2 slot. Van Tilburg rallied for a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 victory while Nichols fell by an almost identical score line (6-3, 3-6, 10-2). Farm and Ryan Castonia closed out the match with wins of 6-4, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-3, respectively.
