BOSTON, Mass. - After the second day of the New England Indoor Championships that were held at Boston University this weekend, the MIT men's track and field team finished in 18th place out of 31 teams with 11 points. They came in just one point behind the University of Southern Maine. Connecticut College came in first with 164.50 points.
The only other event that the Engineers entered was the 4x400 relay, which consisted of freshman States Lee (Charlotte, N.C.), sophomore Tyler Singer-Clark (Falmouth, Mass.), freshman Derek Barnes (Coto De Caza, Calif.) and senior Patrick Marx (Grand Rapids, Minn.). The relay finished in fifth place with a time of 3:14.64, a new MIT record. The old record of 3:15.74 had remained untouched for over two decades.
Next weekend, a handful of Engineers will compete at the ECAC Division III Championship at the Armory in New York City, an event that will take place from March 1-2. Another group of athletes will return to Tufts for the last chance qualifier.
