  • Engineers Place 27 Student-Athletes on USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

    New Orleans, La. (August 20) -- Twenty-seven members of the MIT men’s and women’s track and field teams were recently honored on the All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The MIT men had nine student-athletes, while the women posted 18 members of the squad to rank No. 2 nationally in Division III. In addition, both the men’s and women’s teams earned All-Academic Team honors as each squad posted an overall GPA of a 3.60.
  • Gong, Okeke Lead Eight Engineers on CoSIDA Track and Field/XC Academic All-American Teams

    Austin, Texas (June 21) -- Led by seniors Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) and Arinze Okeke (Hawthorne, Calif.), the MIT men’s and women’s track and field/cross country teams had eight student-athletes named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams on Wednesday afternoon. Gong was named the CoSIDA Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-American of the Year for the second straight season, while Okeke was tabbed as the Men’s Academic All-American of the Year for the first time.

  • Deyo Earns 5K All-American Honors on Final Day of NCAA's

    The Lead: Graduate student Matthew Deyo (Syracuse, N.Y.) made a late push to finish seventh in the 5,000 meters on the final day of the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship to cap off the three-day event for the Engineers. MIT finished in a tie for 72nd place in the team standings as the team posted two points.
  • Men's, Women's Track and Field/XC Place 10 Student-Athletes on Academic All-District Teams

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 26) -- The MIT men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams have placed 10 student-athletes on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams as five men and five women earned the honor this week. These individuals will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected next month.

    Geneva, Ohio (May 25) -- MIT senior Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) and sophomore Aidan Gilson (Florence, Mass.) have earned the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Elite 90 awards at the NCAA Championship in Geneva, Ohio.

    The Lead: On a rainy day one of the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, MIT sophomore Aidan Gilson (Florence, Mass.) advanced to the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he finished eighth overall and fourth in his heat in Thursday’s preliminaries.
  • MIT Sending 15 Student-Athletes to NCAA Outdoor Nationals

    Indianapolis, Ind. (May 23) -- The NCAA has announced the final qualifiers for the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship as 10 MIT women and five MIT men will take part in the three-day event. The meet will take place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
  • Men's Track and Field Hosts Last Chance Qualifier

    At the MIT Last Chance Meet on Thursday night at the Sherie and Don Morrison Track, the Engineers had three individual victories in the meet that took place in 95-degree temperatures in Cambridge.

  • Men's Track and Field Places League-High 24 on NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

    Twenty-four members of the MIT men’s outdoor track and field team have been honored as members of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference Team, as announced recently by the league. MIT’s 24 selections are the most in the conference as 57 individuals were recognized overall.
  • Men's Track and Field Earns New England Division III Outdoor Championship

    With a total of 123 points, the MIT men’s track and field team claimed the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship by a 27-point margin over No. 11 ranked Tufts on Saturday afternoon at Williams. MIT had 21 individuals earn All-New England honors, along with two relays and three individual champions as the Engineers picked up their fifth title in the last six years.

(May 3) -- MIT track and field head coach Halston Taylor has been honored as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Coach of the Year for leading the Engineers to the NEWMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship last weekend. The Engineers, who are ranked No. 7 in the latest national rankings, have now won nine straight NEWMAC titles and 10 overall.

(April 18) -- The MIT men’s 4x100 meter relay team of senior Danny Newman (St. Charles, Ill.), sophomore Michael Amoako (Teaneck, N.J.), freshman Kenneth Acquah (Tenafly, N.J.) and junior Tre Albritten (Plano, Texas) has been honored as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Relay Team of the Week for their performance in a dual meet with No. 22 Williams College.
  • No. 6 Men's Track and Field Drops 100-94 Final at No. 22 Williams

    At the Dick Farley Invitational on Saturday, the No. 6 ranked MIT men’s track and field team dropped a 100-94 final to No. 22 ranked Williams College in a dual meet in Williamstown. The Engineers earned 10 individual wins and picked up one relay victory.
  • Maloney, Bratten Earn NEWMAC Men's Outdoor Weekly Accolades

    Boston, Mass. (April 10) -- MIT sophomore Dennis Maloney (New Albany, Ohio) was honored as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while junior thrower Cody Bratten (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was the league’s Field Athlete of the Week.
  • No. 11 Men's Track and Field Places Second at Bates

    On Saturday, the No. 11 ranked MIT men’s track and field team placed second out of four teams in a meet hosted at Bates College as the Engineers totaled 178.5 points. In addition, the Engineers also sent a pair of athletes to the Sam Howell Invitational in New Jersey on Friday.

    At the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship, the No. 12 ranked MIT men’s team finished in a tie for 69th place as a team in the two-day event.
  • Deyo Earns All-American Honors On Day One at NCAA's
    March 10, 2017
    Graduate student Matthew Deyo (Syracuse, N.Y.) earned All-America honors on day one of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship as he placed eighth in the 5,000 meters. For Deyo, this is his fourth overall All-America honor and his first in indoor track and field as he was previously an All-American in outdoor track and field once and twice in cross country. As a team, MIT currently sits in a tie for 29th place overall out of 47 teams.
  • Track and Field Set for This Week's NCAA Indoor Nationals

    The MIT men’s and women’s track and field teams are set for the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship on March 10-11, which will be held at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
