Maloney, Bratten Earn NEWMAC Men's Outdoor Weekly Accolades

Boston, Mass. (April 10) -- MIT sophomore Dennis Maloney (New Albany, Ohio) was honored as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while junior thrower Cody Bratten (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was the league's Field Athlete of the Week.

Maloney finished third overall and ran the No. 3 time in the nation as he crossed in a time of 30:07.93 in the 10,000 meters at the Sam Howell Invitational. Finishing as the top non-senior, Maloney closed with a 4:46 final mile and a 68-second final lap as he ran the third-fastest time in MIT history.

In a four-team meet at Bates on Saturday, Bratten won the discus event with a throw of 167 feet, five inches which ranks him No. 3 in the nation. He also took fourth place in the shot put to earn five points for the Engineers as he posted a throw of 45 feet, 6.5 inches.
