Men's Track and Field Chosen Atop NEWMAC Preseason Poll

Westwood, Mass. (March 14) -- In the NEWMAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches Poll, the MIT men's track and field team has been voted as the preseason favorite by the league's head coaches.

MIT will again be under the direction of head coach Halston Taylor after the team captured the program's 17th straight NEWMAC Championship a year ago with a total of 291.5 points. Senior Cody Bratten (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was the NEWMAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year after he won both the discus and the shot put at the NEWMAC meet.

Junior Aidan Gilson (Florence, Mass.) was among those who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships last year as he advanced to the final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase following a NEWMAC Championship in that event. Overall last year at the NEWMAC meet, the Engineers picked up 10 victories and had 20 student-athletes earn All-Conference accolades.
