Shaoul Named as the NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (April 9) -- MIT freshman Yorai Shaoul (Raanana, Israel) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his performance at the Tufts Quad Meet on Saturday.

In the triple jump, Shaoul posted the top mark in the nation with a leap of 48 feet, four inches to win the event. The jump was also the No. 5 mark in MIT history and the program's rookie record. He followed that with a victory in the long jump as well, jumping 22 feet, 1.5 inches to win by 4.75 inches.

The No. 15 ranked Engineers return to action on Saturday, April 14th as the team travels to the Dick Farley Invite at Williams College.
