Matt Hohenberger Cops NECVA Honors
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Matt
Hohenberger continued MIT’s streak of league accolades as he
was named the North East Collegiate Volleyball Conference (NECVA)
Rookie of the Week in addition to earning New England Division
plaudits. This was his first time he was selected as NECVA’s
overall recipient while he earned his third New England Division
award.
In a 4-2 week for the Engineers, Hohenberger averaged 4.11 kills, a
.418 hitting percentage, 0.78 blocks, and 0.61 aces. He notched
four kills on five errorless-attempts, three aces, and three blocks
in two sets versus Lesley University. Hohenberger then racked up 14
kills, a .722 hitting performance, and two blocks in a sweep of
Harvard University. He registered six kills on nine swings against
SUNY IT before compiling 16 kills, a .650 hitting percentage, and
five aces versus nationally-ranked No. 12 Ramapo College.
Hohenberger contributed eight kills in a loss to No. 7 Rivier
College and followed with a season-high 26 kills and six blocks
against Endicott College.
