Men’s Volleyball Releases 2012 Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2012 MIT men's volleyball team begins its quest for a bid to the inaugural NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Engineers then compete in the first of seven tournaments as six individual matches and a tri-match round out the schedule.
MIT will participate in the Nazareth College Tournament for the first time in Rochester, N.Y. on January 27-28. The Engineers home-opener is on Tuesday, Jan. 31 versus Endicott College followed by their annual battle with cross-town rival Harvard University on Saturday, Feb. 4. Matches with perennial powerhouse Springfield College (February 8) and Elms College (February 15) sandwich the MIT Invitational which features Endicott, York College (N.Y.), Rivier College, Elms College, Johnson & Wales University, Emerson College, and Stevenson University.
The Cardinal and Gray travel to New York City for the Baruch College Tournament on February 25-26 before returning to Cambridge for a tri-match with Mount Ida College and NYU on March 3. MIT begins a stretch of three straight weekends at tournaments starting on March 9 at the Fontbonne University Tournament in St. Louis, Mo. The squad will make its first appearance at the Dave Hildebrandt Classic hosted by Newbury College and then head up to the Endicott College Tournament on March 24-25.
Upon their return from spring break, the Engineers will host the MIT Scramble Tournament on April 6-7. Regular-season play concludes with home matches against Newbury (April 10) and Springfield (April 14).
