CENTREVILLE, Mass. – Sophomore libero Brendan Chang (Laytonsville, Md.) was MIT's sole representative on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men's Volleyball All-Star Team as announced by the association on Tuesday. A second-team pick, Chang was tabbed for ECAC Libero of the Year accolades last season while securing a spot on the All-Star Team.
The award comes after Chang became the program's first two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America first-team selection last month. He also collected Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year plaudits from the United Volleyball Conference. Chang finished the season ranked second in the country in digs per set (3.25) while contributing to a serve receive that limited opponents to 0.92 aces per set. His tally of 358 digs was second best all-time at MIT as his two-year total of 804 digs puts him fifth in the Engineers' record book.
