2012 Water Polo Schedule Released
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The water polo team will open its 2012 season on September 1 with the Labor Day Invite, a home event where it will face Yale, Harvard and Diablo Valley College. After heading to Brown for day two of the tournament, the Engineers will spend the following weekend in New Jersey at the Princeton Invite (Sept. 8-9).
Upon MIT's return to Cambridge on September 14, it will take on Mercyhurst College. The Engineers kick off their six-game CWPA Northern Division schedule beginning with cross-town rival Harvard on September 21. The Cardinal and Gray's homestand concludes the next day against Iona and Fordham. MIT wraps up league play with dates at Connecticut College (Oct. 6), St. Francis (Oct. 6) and Brown (Oct. 26). The Engineers will end the regular season by facing Connecticut College for the second time in three weeks on October 27.
Between these pivotal games, MIT travels to Bucknell for the Bison Invite (Sept. 29-30), the last tournament of the season. The Engineers will host the Division III Championships on October 20-21 and then will visit Providence once again to face fellow CWPA competitors at the Northern Division Championship on the weekend of November 2 and 3. The top four teams from that tournament will advance to the Eastern Championship at Princeton two weeks later (Nov. 16-18).
