Craig Cheney Receives NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior MIT water polo student-athlete Craig Cheney (Sherwood, Ore.) was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the fall season, it was announced this week.

MIT Water Polo Posts Top GPA in Country
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s water polo team recorded the highest cumulative grade point average of any team in the NCAA during the 2013 season, as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) on Tuesday morning. In addition to the team recognition, 11 Engineers received All-Academic awards.

Three Engineers Honored by ACWPC
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior MIT water polo player Craig Cheney (Sherwood, Ore.) was named a Second Team All-American by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) on Thursday morning, while sophomores Kale Rogers (Newberg, Ore.) and Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) were selected as Honorable Mentions.

Tech Ends Season with 12-9 loss Against George Washington
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On the last day of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championships at Brown University and its final game of the 2013 campaign, the MIT water polo team was defeated by George Washington, 12-9, on Sunday afternoon. Tech ended the three day championships in eighth place, after winning against Mercyhurst and falling to Navy and Harvard earlier in the weekend.

Engineers Drop Close Game to Harvard, 10-9
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On the second day of the CWPA Championships at Brown University, the MIT water polo team fell to fellow Cambridge rival Harvard University by a score of 8-6. Yesterday, the Engineers defeated Mercyhurst, 10-9, before falling to the United States Naval Academy, 19-11.

Engineers Defeat Mercyhurst before Falling to Navy on Day one of CWPA Champs
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – MIT’s water polo team was victorious in its first game of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championships, coming from behind to defeat Mercyhurst University by a score of 10-9. Later that same day, the Engineers fell to Navy, 19-11. Hosted by Brown University, the CWPA Championships are taking place from Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24.

Cheney and Tasman Named to CWPA All-Conference Teams
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Two members of the MIT water polo team were named to the 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division All-Conference on Friday afternoon. Senior Craig Cheney (Sherwood, Ore.) was tabbed to first team for the third consecutive year, while sophomore Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) was named to the second team for the second year in a row.

Nolan Kruse Named CWPA Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Freshman Nolan Kruse (Orcutt, Calif.) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday evening following a strong weekend in net at the CWPA Northern Division Championships at Harvard. This is the first time that he has received this particular honor, after being named Rookie of the Week twice in October.

Water Polo Ends CWPA Northern Division Champs in Fourth Place
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s water polo team narrowly fell to Brown University, 10-9, on the second day of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division Championships at Harvard University on Sunday morning. After defeating Iona College, 11-10, and falling to host Harvard, 9-6, the Engineers wrapped up the weekend in fourth place with a record of 1-2 and are currently 12-14 on the season.

Water Polo Defeats Iona but Falls to Harvard on Day 1 of CWPA Northern Div. Champs
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT water polo traveled just minutes down the road to Harvard University for the first day of the 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division Championships on Saturday. As it did the weekend before on Senior Day, the Engineers defeated Iona College in a very close game by a score of 11-10. Later that day, Tech fell to host Harvard, 9-6. MIT is now 12-13 on the season.

Ory Tasman Named CWPA Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division MVP on Tuesday evening following an action-packed weekend at home that saw the MIT water polo team defeat all three of its opponents. This is the first time in his career that he has earned a weekly honor.

MIT Comes From Behind to Defeat Iona on Senior Day, 10-9
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – At its final home game of the 2013 season, the MIT water polo team honored its four seniors before playing an aggressive game against Iona College, coming from behind to defeat Iona College by a score of 10-9 on Sunday morning. Yesterday, the Engineers defeated Fordham University by a score of 9-7 before falling to St. Francis College, 12-5. MIT is now 11-12 on the season.

Engineers Defeat Fordham and Fall to St. Francis
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With the 2013 season slowly coming to a close, the MIT water polo team returned home for the first time since mid-October to host a weekend of games. On the first day of the three-game weekend, the Engineers defeated Fordham University in a low-scoring game by a score of 9-7. They then fell to St. Francis College later that day, 12-5. Tech is now 10-12 on the season.

Cheney and Kruse Receive CWPA Weekly Awards for Second Time
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – For the second time in two weeks, MIT water polo saw senior Craig Cheney (Sherwood, Ore.) and freshman Nolan Kruse (Orcutt, Calif.) receive Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) weekly nods. Following a strong, 3-1 weekend at the Division III Eastern Championships at Johns Hopkins University, Cheney was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Kruse was the Rookie of the Week.

Water Polo Defeats Conn. College but Falls to Hopkins in Championship Final
BALTIMORE, Md. - On the second day of the Division III Eastern Championships on Sunday, #2 seed MIT water polo team defeated Connecticut College by a score of 19-5 before falling to #1 seed and host Johns Hopkins later that day in the Championship final, 13-8. Yesterday, the Engineers won against Penn State Behrend, 23-4, and Washington & Jefferson, 22-18.

Water Polo Finishes Day 1 of Eastern Championships with Record of 2-0
BALTIMORE, Md. - MIT water polo traveled to Maryland over the weekend for the Division III Eastern Championships, that is taking place at Johns Hopkins University from Saturday through Sunday, Oct. 19-20. On the opening day of the Championships, the Engineers defeated Penn State Behrend by a score of 23-4 before defeating Washington & Jefferson later that same day by a score of 22-18.

Water Polo Suffers 10-7 Loss to Harvard
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After being three goals behind at the end of the first period, the MIT water polo team were able to close the gap a bit but ultimately fell to Harvard University, 10-7, at home on Wednesday evening. This is only the Engineers’ third home game of the season, the other two occurring at the end of last month, when they fell to Brown but won against Connecticut College.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following an eventful weekend that saw MIT defeat Brown University for the first time in almost decade, two members of the MIT men’s water polo earned weekly honors as announced by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) on Tuesday afternoon.

MIT Water Polo Defeats Brown and Conn. College on the Road
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Traveling to Brown University for the third time since the start of the season less than a month ago, the MIT men's water polo team returned to campus with a record of 2-0 after winning against host Brown in a close game by a score of 15-13 and taking a 14-6 win over Connecticut College on Saturday. This is the first time since 2004 that the Engineers have defeated the Bears. Tech is now 6-9 for the season.

Engineers Fall to Harvard in Close 13-10 Game
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Traveling just five minutes down the road to face fellow Cambridge and Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) rival Harvard University, the MIT water polo team fell to the Crimson in a very close game by a score of 13-10. Freshman Zach Churukian (Menlo Park, Calif.) led the Engineers with his three goals, while sophomores Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) and Kale Rogers (Newberg, Ore.) scored two goals apiece.

Water Polo Defeats Conn. College and Falls to Brown at Home Opener
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – At its first home games of the season on Saturday afternoon, the MIT water polo team wrapped up the day with a record of 1-1 after falling to Brown University by a score of 15-9 and winning against Connecticut College by a score of 23-3. Sophomore Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) led the Engineers with his seven goals throughout both games, all but one of which was scored against Conn. College. Tech is now 4-8 for the season.

MIT Water Polo Falls to Fordham and St. Francis on the Road
NEW YORK, N.Y. - After defeating Iona College with a score of 12-10 on Saturday afternoon, the MIT water polo team continued traveling through New York to face Fordham University and St. Francis College on Sunday. The Engineers fell to Fordham first by a score of 11-10 after two overtime periods and one sudden death period before going down to the road, falling to St. Francis, 18-10. Tech is now 3-7 for the season.

MIT Water Polo Defeats Iona on the Road by a Score of 12-10
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - After having played games at Brown University for two consecutive weekends, the MIT water polo team switched things up a bit, traveling to New York to face Iona College on Saturday afternoon. Tech wrapped up the day with a 12-10 victory over the Gaels, taking its record to 3-5 for the season.

MIT Water Polo Ends Bruno Fall Invitational With 11-8 Loss to Cal Lutheran
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On the final day of the Bruno Fall Invitational, that took place at Brown University from Saturday through Sunday, Sept. 14-15, the MIT water polo team fell to Cal Lutheran with a score of 11-8. The Engineers ended the weekend with a record of 1-3, after falling to host Brown and Pacific and winning against Connecticut College. MIT is now 2-5 for the season.

Water Polo Ends First Day of Bruno Fall Invitational With Record of 2-1
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - For the second weekend in a row, the MIT water polo team traveled to Brown University for a weekend full of games. On the first day of the Bruno Fall Invitational on Saturday, the Engineers fell to the University of the Pacific with a score of 20-3, won against Connecticut College, 18-7, and narrowly fell to Brown, 14-10.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On the second and final day of the Bruno Fall Classic on Sunday afternoon, hosted by Brown University, the MIT water polo team fell to Stanford University with a score of 23-5. After having lost to UC Irvine with a score of 19-2 and winning against Washington & Jefferson with a score of 19-8, the Engineers wrapped up the weekend with a record of 1-2.

Engineers Take 19-8 Win Over Washington & Jefferson at Bruno Fall Classic
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In its second game of the day on the first day of the Bruno Fall Classic at Brown University, the MIT men's water polo team defeated Washington & Jefferson College with a score of 19-8 on Saturday afternoon. After falling to the University of California Irvine earlier in the day, the Engineers' record now rests at 1-1.

MIT Water Polo Drops First Game of Season to UC Irvine
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Opening the 2013 season at the Bruno Fall Classic at Brown University on Saturday morning, the MIT men's water polo team fell in its first game of the day to the University of California Irvine with a score of 19-2. The Engineers are now 0-1 for their season but will play another game against Washington & Jefferson College later on in the day.
