Brown And St. Francis Advance To Northern Finals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - St. Francis College and Brown University advanced to the Northern Division III water polo championship after impressive 2-0 starts on Saturday at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center. Iona College, Harvard University, Queens College and Connecticut College went 1-1 on the day, while Fordham University and MIT dropped both of their contests.

St. Francis College jumped out to a fast start with a 21-6 rout of Queens before defeating Iona 8-4. Host MIT battled Iona in the second game of the tournament but lost in triple overtime, 12-11. The Engineers were also edged by Queens, 13-11. First place Brown cruised to a 16-0 victory over Connecticut and then edged out Harvard 5-3. The Crimson finished the day 1-1 with a win over Fordham, 10-4. Connecticut College lost to Fordham, 9-6.

Tournament action continues Sunday when MIT meets Fordham at 10:00 a.m. Connecticut College then faces Queens at 11:15 a.m. and Harvard battles Iona at 12:30 p.m. The championship game between Brown and St. Francis is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
