BOSTON, Mass. - The MIT men's cross country team, led by senior Hemagiri Arumugam, earned a fourth-place finish out of 18 teams at the Codfish Bowl at Boston's Franklin Park on Saturday. Three Engineers were among the top 23 finishers as Tech's team score of 96 points was tops among all Division III squads.
Arumugam completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:27.5, good for an impressive fourth-place showing, behind only a few competitors from local running clubs. Freshman Dawit Zewdie had a strong showing for the second consecutive week, running 26:05.5 to finish in 14th. Stephen Serene was just 21 seconds behind Zewdie in 23rd place. Dmitrij Petters (26:47.5) came through in 33rd while Adam Delton rounded out the scoring for the Cardinal and Grey with his 43rd place effort.
The Engineers were edged out by Bentley, as the top collegiate squad, by just one point.
Tech will compete in next weekend's Keene State Invitational on Saturday, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
