BOSTON, Mass. - The MIT men's cross country team competed against teams from all across New England at Franklin Park on Saturday and took home a 29th place finish out of 47 teams. Hemagiri Arumugam led the way for Tech, which had the best showing among New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) teams.
Arumugam's time of 25:40 was good for 44th overall, the second best finish among NEWMAC runners. Dawit Zewdie (26:15) was next in 105th position. Dan Harper completed the eight kilometer course in 26:24 to finish 127th. Ben Mattocks (26:41, 157th) and Jacob Young (27:44, 248th) rounded out the scoring for the Cardinal and Grey.
UMass-Lowell edged UMass-Amherst for the team title with 93 points. Glarius Rop from American International College was the top overall finisher with a time of 24:22.
MIT will travel to Williams College next weekend for the Plansky Invitational. The meet begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17.
