Men’s Cross Country Cruises at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. – MIT started the men's cross country season in fine style at the Keene State Alumni Invitational where the Engineers won the team competition over 11 other teams. Junior Roy Wedge (Lawrence, Kan.) won the individual title to lead the Engineers to the team win.

Wedge edged out teammate sophomore Benjamin Xie (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) for the win on the 5K course, finishing in 15:46, three seconds ahead of Xie. After taking the first two spots, MIT went on to wrap up the team win with Engineers taking places seven through 10. Freshman Ian Tolan (Binghamton, N.Y.) was the first of the four MIT runners in the group, striding across the line with an effort of 16:16. Crossing the line in eighth was senior Logan Trimble (Clearwater, Fla.) in a time of 16:17. Two seconds back was freshman Edgar Gridello (Douvainer, France), with sophomore Matthew Jordan (Matthews, N.C.) taking 10th with his effort of 16:22.

MIT also  place three more runners in the top-20, with senor Benjamin Mattocks (Sharon, Mass) leading that group with a 12th-place finish in a time of 16:26.

MIT will return to action in two weeks when it takes part in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on September 15 at 10:30 a.m.
