MIT Cross Country Teams Lend Helping Hand to Boston Harbor Association

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Members of the MIT Men's and Women's Cross Country teams stepped off of the trails and spent an afternoon volunteering with The Boston Harbor Association. By partnering with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the MIT Public Service Center, about 30 members from the two teams helped with storm drain stenciling.

Vivien Li, President of The Boston Harbor Association (TBHA), commended the teams' efforts, saying, "We didn't know what to expect when the SAAC first contacted us. We were so impressed with the large turn out, and how hard everyone worked.  Nearly 300 storm drains were stenciled with the notice "Don't Dump. Drains to Boston Harbor", which is a record.  Such community service will help to ensure that Boston Harbor stays clean, and we are grateful to all the teams' members who came out to help."

Senior Logan Trimble (Clearwater, Fla.), a captain on the men's team, remarked, "In addition to bonding as a team and exploring Boston, both our Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were able to serve the community for the day."
