Deyo Picks Up NEWMAC Runner of the Week Honors

Boston, Mass. (October 11) -- MIT graduate student Matthew Deyo (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been named as the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance at the 2016 NEICAAA New England Championship at Franklin Park. This marks the first league honor of the season for Deyo and second for the Engineers.

Over the 8K course, Deyo claimed the D3 New England Individual title as he finished 11th overall out of 221 runners in a time of 25:08.59 to place seven seconds ahead of the next D3 finisher. As a team, the squad had the top five runners all finish within a 30-second span, including three within just 13 seconds of each other.

The No. 5 ranked Engineers finished third overall out of 34 teams and first among Division III programs.

MIT is back in action on Saturday, October 15th as the Engineers head to Rowan University for the Border Battle in Glassboro, N.J.
