Deyo Named NEWMAC Runner of the Week for Second Time

Boston, Mass. (October 18) -- MIT graduate student Matthew Deyo (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been named as the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second straight week for his performance at the Border Battle on Saturday at Rowan University. This is the third weekly honor for the Engineers this season from the NEWMAC.

Deyo paced the No. 5 Engineers to a runner-up finish as a team as he placed eighth out of 383 runners over the eight-kilometer course. Crossing in a time of 23:42.3, Deyo averaged a pace of 4:54 per mile.

MIT is back in action on Saturday, October 29th as the Engineers head to Northampton, Mass. for the NEWMAC Championship, hosted by Smith College. The men's race begins at 11 a.m. as the Engineers enter the meet as the 18-time defending league champions.
