Men's Cross Country Places 12th at All-Division New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - MIT finished 12th overall and third among Division III teams among a competitive field of runners at the All-Division New England Championship, Saturday at Franklin Park. Hemagiri Arumugam paced the Engineers, coming in 27th overall with a time of 25:19.

 

Jake Ruzevick continued to improve in just his second race this season, crossing the finish line in 25:31 to place 42nd. Paul Welle finished third for Tech, placing 87th overall with a time of 26:05. Gihan Amarasiriwardena was thirteen seconds behind, just missing out on a top 100 finish at 106th. Yermie Cohen rounded out the scoring for the Cardinal and Gray, placing 122nd.

UMass-Lowell and New Hampshire battled for the team title, with the River Hawks taking advantage of the second and third overall finishers to earn a 10-point victory. Tim Ritchie of Boston College was the top finisher, completing the eight-kilometer course in 24:35.

The Engineers next race in the Plansky Invitational at Williams College next Saturday, October 18.
