Hemagiri Arumugam Named NEWMAC Runner of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Junior Hemagiri Arumugam has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner of the Week after leading MIT to a sixth place finish at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals.

Arumugam, as he has done all season, led the way for Tech, finishing the eight-kilometer course in 26:08 and placing 12th overall out of 230 runners. The meet was held at Hanover College, the site of the 2008 NCAA Cross Country championships.

This is the second conference weekly honor for Arumugam this season. He was previously named Runner of the Week on September 16.
