V’Dovec Collects NEWMAC and NEWBA Weekly Honors

Cambridge, Mass. (February 13) – Sophomore Taylor V'Dovec (Blaine, Wash.) became the second MIT women's basketball player this season to receive NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week and NEWBA Player of the Week Honor Roll accolades as announced by both organizations on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, she averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and shot 82.4 percent from the floor.

Last Wednesday in a 65-31 win over Clark University, V'Dovec posted 20 points, 18 in the second half, shot 8-of-9 from the floor, grabbed six rebounds, and notched three blocks in 23 minutes. She followed this up with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and produced nine rebounds to go along with two blocks in a 68-30 win over Mount Holyoke College on Saturday.

MIT is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 15 when it travels to NEWMAC rival Wellesley College for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
