CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior captain Kimberly Soo Hoo capped off her stellar career by being selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference Second Team. The honor is the first for the Engineers since Crystal Russell's selection in 2002-03. MIT also received its second consecutive Sportsmanship Award which is voted upon by the student-athletes.
Soo Hoo led the league in assists per game (5.35) and ranked second in assist/turnover ratio (1.48) and minutes played (36.62). She set new marks in every assist category in the MIT recordbook this past season. After tying the record for assists in a game four times, she surpassed the previous mark of 10 with 13 at Wheaton College on Feb. 20. Soo Hoo notched 139 assists this year, which eclipsed Maisha Gray's tally of 122 set in 1998-99. She also topped Russell's career total of 349 with 410 assists. Soo Hoo is the only person in the program's history to distribute at least 100 assists in multiple seasons as she accomplished this feat the last three years.
