MIT Showcases Talent at US Rowing Club National Championship
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT rowing program saw six current student-athletes, two incoming freshmen, and one alumna compete at the 2010 US Rowing Club National Championship held July 14-18 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Kate Hoff ’08, Richard Suarez ’11, Lucas Goodman ’11, Ben Potash ’14, and Andrew Schlaepfer ’14 earned medals while Lauren Ayers ’13, Meghan Dow ’12, Katie Everett ’12, and Clare Flanagan ’11 turned in solid performances.

MIT Finishes 11th in Directors’ Cup Rankings
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in Institute history, MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. This was the highest ranking for the Engineers in the 14-year history of the program and the first time they were the best performers in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Lightweight Women Train at United States Rowing Development Camp
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – This summer Clare Flanagan ’11 and Kate Hoff ’08 received invitations to represent the MIT women’s lightweight rowing program at the United States Rowing Sculling Development Camp. Held at the Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, Pa., the focus of the camp is developing lightweight women in sculling as this is the only racing opportunity on the international stage for lightweight women.

Engineers Capture Seventh Place at IRA National Championship
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The MIT lightweight women’s crew concluded its 2010 spring racing season with a win in the petite final of the IRA National Championship on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The victory resulted in the Engineers finishing the year as the seventh-fastest lightweight women's crew in the country.

Eight Engineers Named CRCA Scholar Athletes
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Eight members of the MIT women's crew teams have been recognized by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) as National Scholar Athletes for the 2010 season. As the primary coaches association for women’s rowing, the CRCA recognizes student-athletes for their efforts on the water and in the classroom.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Last weekend, the MIT women’s lightweight rowers traveled to compete in the Knecht Cup Regatta, racing on both Saturday and Sunday against crews representing roughly 50 schools from around the country.

Bucknell Edges Women's Lightweights at Murphy Cup
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - MIT turned in another strong performance at this weekend’s 28th Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. In the afternoon final of the varsity lightweight eight, 2009 IRA Silver-Medalist Bucknell pushed hard to take the lead and came across the finish line just 3.7 seconds ahead of Tech.

Tech Lightweights Turn in Impressive Performance in Foot of the Charles
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Tech lightweight women turned in an impressive performance this past Saturday at the Foot of the Charles Regatta. The varsity “A” four of coxswain Man-Yan Lam, Meredith Lis, Hilda Buss, Clare Flanagan and Melody Kuna came in second among the lightweight varsity four competitors, finishing in a time of 15:17.9 and placing thirty-second overall in the field of openweight and lightweight competition.

Lightweight Women Set to Conclude Fall Racing Saturday at Home
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On Saturday, November 14, the MIT lightweight women’s crew team will conclude the fall racing season at home in the Foot of the Charles Regatta. After the Foot of the Charles, the next competition for Tech’s lightweight women will be on Saturday, March 26th at Princeton, NJ versus Princeton University and Philadelphia University.
