CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On Saturday, November 14, the MIT lightweight women's crew team will conclude the fall racing season at home in the Foot of the Charles Regatta. The Engineers will be racing in an open field, comprised of openweight and lightweight varsity and novice crews. The varsity crews will be racing in two varsity four's at 9:45 a.m. and a second varsity eight at 11:15 a.m. The novice crew will be racing in the novice-eight event at 10:30 a.m. For spectators, the starting line of the Foot is MIT's Pierce Boathouse; all are welcome to come out and enjoy the races from the Pierce Boathouse balcony.
The Foot of the Charles brings an end to a fall season full of unexpected weather, competitive racing and great intra-squad competition for the Engineers. Tech lightweight women opened the season at the New Hampshire Championships where the varsity eight placed eleventh in a very strong field of competition in the openweight eight event. The eleventh place finish was 7% off the winning time posted by the Radcliffe "A" entry. For full race results, click here.

In the club four, coxswain Mindy Du led her crew of Hannah Sieber, Lizzy Wei, Soraya Shehata and Marie McGraw to securing a guaranteed entry in the event for 2010 by finishing 23rd out of 54 boats. The lightweight four and eight both raced amid the snowflakes on Sunday where they finished 11th and 12th in very competitive fields. For the first year in the lightweight eight event, MIT defeated perennial lightweight powerhouse, Riverside Boat Club. For full race results, click here.
