The lightweight women will compete in the 3rd annual Muri Cup on Saturday, April 30th. The regatta begins at 9:36am with the first varsity eight race. MIT, currently ranked #7 in the nation will take on #4 ranked Harvard-Radcliffe. The winner of the first varsity eight race will earn the Muri Cup.
The Cup presentation takes place at Weld Boathouse, at the conclusion of racing. The Muri Cup honors MIT alumna and Harvard freshman lightweight men's rowing coach, Linda Muri. Muri's achievements as an elite athlete and coach are inspirational to the entire rowing community and notably, to MIT and Harvard collegiate rowers. Muri's impressive career as an athlete and coach merits special recognition and the presentation of the Muri Cup and all that it represents are a great honor bestowed upon the winning crew. The Muri Cup is the final home race of the season for Tech and marks the last home for senior oarswomen, Man-Yan Lam, Melody Kuna, Clare Flanagan, Emma Jeffries, Sara Ferry and Victoria Wang.
