CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – This weekend both the MIT lightweight and openweight women’s crew teams will take part in the Foot of the Charles Regatta, the final event on Tech’s fall schedule. The feature event of the regatta is the Varsity Four race, a departure from most racing where the eight is the priority boat. The race-course begins at the Riverside Boathouse and ends at the same finish line as the Head of the Charles race, 2.3 miles upstream.
MIT will have boats in the Varsity Four event, which begins at 9:45 a.m., the Novice Eight, which starts at 10:45 a.m. and the Varsity eight at 11:15 a.m. Tech’s lightweight squad will enter three boats this weekend while the openweight team has a total of five entries. During the regatta, both lightweight and openweight boats compete in the same events
In the Varsity Four race, a total of four Tech crews will be entered, three openweight and one from the lightweight team, out of 46 total entries. The three openweight four boats will be Bow nos. 10, 20 and 33, respectively, while the lightweight four will have Bow #23.
In the Novice Eight, the lone lightweight crew will be at Bow #70. The openweight team has a pair of novice boats in the event at Bow Nos. 55 and 65.
In the final event on Saturday, the Varsity Eight, the lightweight team has one of the seven entries and will have Bow #7.
