    Women’s Lightweight 8 Wins Petite Final at IRA Championships WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – In the season finale for the MIT women’s lightweight crew team, the Engineers made an appearance at the 2014 Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships, held on Lake Mercer. MIT qualified both its Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats, with both crews starting action on Saturday.

The team’s competed in a pair of races in eights as well as fours, with Radcliffe taking all four to capture the Cup.

    Novice 4 Wins at Lightweight Invitational CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Back on its home waters of the Charles River, the MIT women’s lightweight crew took part in the Lightweight Invitational Regatta this morning. The Engineers picked up one victory in the racing, with the Novice 4 crew defeating Harvard-Radcliffe.

MIT finished the weekend advancing the Varsity 8 crew and a pair of lightweight fours to their respective final events on the Mercer Lake course.

The Engineers had three entries in the Varsity 4+ event, along with crews in the Novice 8 and Varsity 8 (3V) races.

The Engineers, who were the only lightweight team to field crews, had two boats in the event that features novice crews.

    Women’s Lightweight Crew Opens Season at Head of the Charles CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On a sunny autumn day in New England the MIT women’s lightweight crew team opened its 2013-14 season at the annual Head of the Charles regatta. As they did last year, the Engineers had entries in the Women’s Lightweight Fours and the Women’s Lightweight Eights, with both teams posting solid results to kick off the season.

    CRCA Names 12 MIT Rowers Scholar Athletes CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A total of 12 members of the MIT women’s openweight and lightweight rowing teams were honored for their academic success by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) when the organization released its list of Scholar Athletes for 2013. Seven members of the openweight team made the list and were joined by five rowers from the lightweight team.
