HANOVER, N.H. - This weekend, Dartmouth hosted the Green Monster Frosh Invitational regatta along the Connecticut River. In addition to an openweight novice women's eight, MIT entered a lightweight novice women's eight and a mixed eight of openweight and lightweight novice women.
In a race devoid of other lightweight crews, the lightweight eight finished 10th overall with a time of 18:27.5. Coxed by Elena Harman, the crew consisted of stroke Esther Chung, seven seat Amanda Berry, six seat Jenn Resvick, five seat Kathryn Schumacher, four seat Diana Ye, three seat Tiffany Iaconis, two seat Ming Leong, and bow Vivian Tang.
The lightweight/openweight mixed eight finished 12th with a time of 19:01.4. In addition to lightweight rower Jackie Douglass acting as coxswain, the lightweights in this boat included six seat Christine Shaver, two seat Seema Kacker, and bow Leigh Manson.
The openweight eights from Dartmouth won the day, finishing ahead of the MIT boats as well as crews from Northeastern, Rutgers, and UNH. It was a particularly exciting finish, as most of the crews converged on the bridge at the end of the three-mile course virtually on top of each other. In a final burst of speed, the mixed eight was able to hold its position in the field, while the lightweight eight took the inside of a turn and moved ahead of the UNH boat that had previously passed it.
