MIT Showcases Talent at US Rowing Club National Championship
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT rowing program saw six current student-athletes, two incoming freshmen, and one alumna compete at the 2010 US Rowing Club National Championship held July 14-18 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Kate Hoff ’08, Richard Suarez ’11, Lucas Goodman ’11, Ben Potash ’14, and Andrew Schlaepfer ’14 earned medals while Lauren Ayers ’13, Meghan Dow ’12, Katie Everett ’12, and Clare Flanagan ’11 turned in solid performances.

MIT Finishes 11th in Directors’ Cup Rankings
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in Institute history, MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. This was the highest ranking for the Engineers in the 14-year history of the program and the first time they were the best performers in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Patriot League Announces Women’s Rowing Academic Honor Roll
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following its first season as an associate member of the Patriot League, the MIT women’s openweight crew program saw 16 athletes earn a spot on the conference’s Academic Honor Roll. A total of 108 student-athletes were recognized as Patriot League champion Bucknell University led the way with 33 honors, followed by the College of the Holy Cross (21), and the U.S. Naval Academy (20).

Openweight Crew Announces Class of 2014
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nine experienced rowers will join the women’s openweight crew this fall as part of the Class of 2014. This marks the third year in a row that more than a full boat’s worth of recruited freshmen have entered the program. The new talent will help form the deepest squad in recent memory.

Eight Engineers Named CRCA Scholar Athletes
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Eight members of the MIT women's crew teams have been recognized by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) as National Scholar Athletes for the 2010 season. As the primary coaches association for women’s rowing, the CRCA recognizes student-athletes for their efforts on the water and in the classroom.

MIT Crew Set to Compete in Final Home Races of Season
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On Saturday, May 1, MIT’s four crew teams will take to the Charles River for a full morning of racing, marking the only time this semester that all teams will be competing at home on one day.

MIT Places Two on All-Patriot League Rowing Teams
CENTER VALLEY, Pa.—Eighteen student-athletes were named to the 2010 All-Patriot League Rowing Team, all of whom participated in the 2010 Patriot League Rowing Championship that took place on Sunday. Engineers Catherine Crowley and Phoebe Henderson represented MIT on this year's teams.

Bucknell Captures 2010 Patriot League Rowing Title - MIT Takes 5th
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Bucknell held off Navy by just over two seconds in the varsity eight race to capture its fifth consecutive Patriot League Rowing Championship on Sunday morning on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Openweight Varsity Eight Goes Undefeated at George Washington Invite
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The MIT women’s openweight crew traveled to the Potomac River for its second regatta of the season, the George Washington Invitational. On Friday, Tech’s varsity eight tied Georgetown University, then defeated both George Washington University and the University of Dayton on Saturday.

Women's Openweights Take Third in Season Opener
WORCESTER, Mass. – The MIT women’s openweight crew opened up its spring racing season with a third-place finish in Worcester on Saturday. The two varsity eights faced off against host Holy Cross, as well as University of Massachusetts-Amherst, University of Hew Hampshire and Williams College.

Openweight Crew Set to Begin Spring Season
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Fresh from a productive spring break of training last week, the women’s openweight crew is looking forward to opening its spring racing this weekend. Now an associate member of the Patriot League, the team will compete in a conference championship for the first time since becoming Division I, while still concluding the traditional season at the prestigious Eastern Sprints.

Openweight Women Ranked 3rd in Patriot League Preseason Poll
CENTER VALLEY, Pa.--Bucknell claimed eight first-place votes and 48 overall points to finish first in the 2010 Patriot League Rowing Preseason Poll. Navy garnered the other four first-place votes and earned 44 points to finish second in the poll. Patriot League newcomer MIT was picked third with 34 points.

Openweight Crew Joins Patriot League as an Associate Member
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –Carolyn Schlie Femovich, Patriot League Executive Director, and Julie Soriero, DAPER Department Head and Athletic Director, announced Friday the addition of MIT as an associate member in the sport of women’s rowing. The Engineers will begin competing in the Patriot League during the 2010 campaign, including the Patriot League Rowing Championship to be held on Sunday, April 25 on the Cooper River in Camden County, N.J.

Tech Concludes Fall With Foot of the Charles
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The women’s openweight crew wrapped up its fall racing season at home with the Foot of the Charles on Saturday. Originally a scrimmage for local teams, the regatta has grown into a competitive event that marks the end of fall racing for many teams throughout New England.

Women’s Openweight Crew Earns Mixed Results at Princeton
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For its second regatta of the year the women’s openweight crew traveled to the Princeton Chase this past weekend. The varsity eight placed 25th of 55 entries despite an equipment malfunction, and the novice eight finished 10th of 16.

Tech Opens Season with Head of the Charles
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The women’s openweight Crew opened its 2009-2010 season this weekend at home, racing in the 45th annual Head of the Charles Regatta. The competition is the largest regatta in the world, and MIT serves as host as well as competitor.

Openweight Crew Welcomes Class of 2013
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second year in a row the women’s openweight crew welcomes into the fold more than a full boat’s worth of recruited freshmen. The young blood will join the deepest and most talented varsity squad in recent memory, raising hopes of new competitive heights for the squad in the coming season.
