CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – A week after earning All-Patriot League honors in women's rowing, senior Jean Sack (Eureka, Calif.) and junior Erin Meyer (Austin, Texas) earned another set of honors from the league today as it announced its 2013 Academic All-Patriot League squad. It was the third time that Myer has been named to the honor, joining Colgate's Natalie Bauman as the league's first three-time honorees. It is the first Academic All-Patriot League honor for Sack.
Sack is the starter in the No. 7 seat of the Varsity 8 boat and helped MIT to a third-place finish in the Varsity 8 race and a fourth-place team finish at the 2013 Patriot League championship. Recently featured on CNN's "The Next List" show that profiles innovators, visionaries and agents of change, she was also selected as a panelist at "The Next List Summit". Named the team's Most Inspirational Player (MVP) for 2013, Sack is also a member of the MIT Symphony Orchestra and MIT Wind Ensemble. A mechanical engineering major, she carries a 4.5 (out of 5.0) GPA.
Meyer starts in the stroke seat for MIT and was part of the same crew with Sack that placed third in the Patriot League Championships. She also a part of the team that finished third overall at the George Washington Invitational, helping the team to wins over St. Joseph's, George Washington and Georgetown. A CRCA National Scholar Athlete (2012), she has interned at the Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center and has performed research in MIT's Aerospace Controls Lab. Also a mechanical engineering major, she currently has a 5.0 GPA at MIT.
