CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Senior Erin Meyer (Austin, Texas) picked up another prestigious post-season honor today when the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) announced that she had been selected to the Division I Capital One Academic All-America Women's At-Large second team. One of 45 student-athletes from around the nation that received recognition on the at-large team, she is the first MIT rower to be chosen for the honor.
Meyer, the only rower among the 45 at-large selections, has been a starting member of MIT's varsity 8 openweight crew team all four seasons of her career and was recently named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in rowing. A three-time All-Patriot League selection, she was also a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2013 and has twice been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team. A two-time CRCA Scholar Athlete, Meyer completed internships with The Boeing Company and the Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center. A senior mechanical engineering major with a 5.0 GPA, she was finalist in MIT's 2.007 Robotics Design Competition.
Sports included in the at-large team selections are bowling, field hockey, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
