Center Valley, Pa. (May 17) -- MIT women's openweight rowers Larkin Sayre (Cambridge, England) and Savannah Inglin (Olympia, Wash.) have both earned All-Patriot League honors for their performances last weekend. The All-League teams are based on the teams' finishes in the Varsity Eight from the Patriot League Rowing Championships, which was held on Friday, May 12 at Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
Sayre, a senior team captain this season, is one of four student-athletes to earn All-League honors for the second straight season as she was a First Team honoree in 2016-17. Rowing as the stroke for the varsity 8 boat at the Patriot League Championship, she helped lead the team to a third-place finish overall in 7:14.824 as the Engineers were just .174 seconds behind the runner-up.
Inglin, a freshman on this year's squad and Second Team selection, earned a spot in the varsity 8 lineup this season and at the Patriot League Championship, she rowed in the #5 seat for the Engineers. Overall, she appeared in eight events as a rookie, including on the victorious varsity 8 boat at the George Washington University Invitational in early April.
In addition, head coach Holly Metcalf was named as the league's Coach of the Year for the first time after leading the Engineers to a fifth-place overall finish at the championship. The award was given out at the championship as MIT had all three boats advance into the Grand Finals.
