LOWELL, Mass. - The MIT women's openweight rowing squad opened the fall campaign with a tremendous afternoon of racing in the Textile Regatta. The Engineers showcased one eight in the Women's Club Eight event before splitting up into two fours for the afternoon.

The Eight was able to finish in a tie for 12th place out of 29 teams, while the Four's finished 5th and 14th, respectively, in a field of 28. The highlight of the day for the Cardinal and Gray featured the performance of rower-turned-coxswain, Cynthia Wilson. Wilson steered and motivated her crews to pass a total of eight competitors during the two events. It was an impressive debut and she later mentioned that she was even able to practice calling out for another crew to "YIELD" - an experience she hopes will prepare her for future races including the upcoming Head of the Charles.
