Helen Sakharova Earns Gold Medal at The Big One Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – MIT junior Helen Sakharova (Ridgewood, N.J.) won the epee Gold medal at the season-opening The Big One Invitational hosted by Smith College on Saturday. The women's fencing team also saw freshman Shiaoching Tse (Apex, N.C.) and sophomore Karen Gu (East Hanover, N.J.) rank fifth and 10th, respectively, in the foil competition. Freshman Therese Mills (Medford, N.J.) rounded out the Engineers' top-10 placements by finishing sixth in the sabre standings.
