CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The women's fencing team finished with a 1-4 record after facing several national powerhouses at the MIT Invitational on Sunday. The Engineers defeated Cornell University (16-11), but fell to Duke University (15-12), University of Pennsylvania (21-6), University of North Carolina (14-13), and New York University (18-9).

A dominating 8-1 performance by the foil squad helped lead MIT to its victory over Cornell. The foil team proved to be the most successful weapon on the day, finishing with a 26-19 mark. Susannah Dorfman led the way with a record of 12-3. Christalee Bieber had the best showing for the epee team, posting a 5-7 ledger. Shauna Jin and Drew Reese both tallied records of 7-7 in sabre action.
