CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The MIT women's fencing team claimed its seventh consecutive New England Championship title on Saturday. Individually, Susannah Dorfman won the women's foil championship for an unprecedented fourth year in a row. Also in foil, Gemma Mendel posted a fifth-place finish, helping the squad take first. The sabre squad finished third behind a ninth-place performance by Drew Reese while the epee team placed fourth.
In junior varsity competition, Barrette Strickland was the runner-up in foil while Chun Li placed fourth. In epee, Nicole Koulisis finished third as Lauren Leung posted a sixth-place ranking. Kristina Holton, Heather Pressler, and Joyce Chen placed third, sixth, and eighth, respectively, in sabre action.
