Women's Fencing Tops BC at Beanpot Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the second annual Beanpot Fencing Tournament on Wednesday, MIT edged out host Boston College (16-11) but fell to Brandeis University (19-8) and Harvard University (22-5). Following the competition, the Engineers’ ledger moved to 6-3 on the year.

The sabre squad compiled a 13-14 record as Molly Kozminsky led the way with a 6-3 mark. Lauren Chilton posted a 4-5 outing while Elena Tatarchenko went 2-6. Laura Evans won in her only appearance of the night.

The epee team notched a total of 9-18, including a 5-4 win over Boston College. Stephanie Shin anchored the squad with a 4-5 performance as Kirsten Hessler registered a tally of 3-6. Sophie Monahan and Breanna Peterman rounded out the Cardinal and Gray’s contingent with records of 1-4 and 1-3, respectively.

Behind a 5-4 victory against Boston College, the foil team registered a 7-20 mark. Cordelia Link paced MIT with a ledger of 4-5, followed by Jenna Caldwell (2-7) and Lindley Graham (1-8).
