CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After helping lead MIT to the 2009 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Championship, Kameron Klauber picked up NEWMAC Player of the Week honors on Monday. Klauber was instrumental in helping MIT capture its first ever NEWMAC title as well as the program's first berth into the Division III NCAA Championship. The Engineers defeated Mount Holyoke, 2-0, in the semifinals before upending defending champion, Springfield, in Sunday's title game.
In Saturday's semifinal against Mount Holyoke, she set up MIT's second score with a beautiful pass on a breakaway. The sophomore then scored what would prove to be the deciding goal in a 4-2 win over Springfield to secure the conference crown.
The Cardinal and Grey will now travel to Nichols College for a First Round NCAA Tournament game on Wednesday, November 11 for a 4:00 p.m. contest. The winner will move on to face Tufts on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
