WELLESLEY, Mass. - Two goals in the last twelve minutes of play lifted MIT past Mount Holyoke 2-0 in NEWMAC semifinal play Saturday at Wellesley College. Anna Teruya and Kimberly Barker scored to advance the Engineers to a championship matchup with Springfield College. It is the first appearance in the conference title game for Tech since the 1996 NEW 8 Championship.

After a scoreless first half, MIT came out striking after the break, outshooting the Lyons 9-1 in the second period. A determined defensive effort by Mount Holyoke kept MIT off the board until the 59th minute, when Teruya netted her 11th goal of the season off a pass from Molly McShane. Mount Holyoke didn't manage another shot in the game, and MIT sealed the win on a breakaway effort by Kameron Klauber, who beat Lyons goalie Katie Gibson with a pass to Barker in front of an open net.

MIT took the advantage in total shots by an 11-6 margin. Gibson recorded five saves for Mount Holyoke, and MIT's Keri Dixon stopped two in net for the Engineers.

The loss drops Mount Holyoke to 10-8 overall on the season. MIT improves to 16-4, a new program record for wins in a season, and will move on to the title game against Springfield College, who edged Wellesley in overtime earlier in the day.
